Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee 2020 is open to all interested 1st - 5th grade students. Same as previous years, it consists of preliminary test (written) and final (spoken). It's a great way for your young spellers to improve and expand vocabulary and enjoy the fun of spelling! Top 5 (generally) will move on to the final oral round spelling bee. The Family Science Night is a fun, exciting and rewarding event, which includes a Science Fair. Its goal is to really inspire of love of science throughout the entire Spiritridge community. Scientists and guests from the community display practical applications of a variety of scientific disciplines.

Learn about energy, motion and the real consequences of design engineering- then watch to see whether each falling egg will survive intact or SPLAT! The Challenge: To build an egg container/lander that will protect a raw, uncooked egg as it is launched from a 70-foot high ladder by the Bellevue Transportation Department. How the competition works: All containers must be made at home prior to the event. Bring your unsealed, eggless landing device to school the morning of the launch with your name and grade labeled. Volunteers will collect the landers, install the egg and prep the container for launch. Launches will take place during all the lunch recesses.

The Teacher & Staff Appreciation Committee could use your help! Teachers love saving time in the morning when they don't have to pack a lunch and know a yummy meal will be provided for them by caring school families like YOU. We need at least 4 volunteers to organize a grade level potluck for each grade. Responsibilities include choosing a meal theme (ex. taco bar), soliciting ingredient donations from your grade level families, set up and clean up. Grab a friend and share hosting responsibilities! If you choose the on-line option, your child does NOT need to bring anything to school with them but a smile. If you would like to pay with cash or check, a paper order form will be coming home with your child. Please return the order form envelope with exact payment enclosed by Picture Day, September 30th. Volunteers are needed for hearing screenings. Screening will be conducted at Spiritridge Thursday Sep 13th. The school nurse, Eileen Crispin, is seeking 20 parent volunteers to assist with screenings, escorting students to and from classrooms, recording results, and managing students in and out of the screening. There will be ample explanation that morning to ensure all volunteers can choose a job they feel comfortable doing. Screenings will be taking place from 8:45am - Noon/1:00pm

In addition to being enjoyable, bicycling can lead to lifelong healthy habits. During Bike to School month, and throughout the year, we encourage all students to begin their school day with a safe and active commute, helping them arrive to school ready to learn! Small Hands on Art is a not-for -profit organization that instructs students in the performing arts. Everyone who enrolls gets a part of the production. They will go through the whole process from a simple audition to learning characterization, singing ability, and simple dance. It is a very fun learning environment. Most students feel like they are going to have a great time with friends or make new ones, little do they know they are coming away with some amazing instruction and stage presence.
Each play runs 4 weeks including rehearsals. |

Starting January 10th 2018 and finishing on February 14th, the Ski bus leaves Spiritridge after school on Wednesday and returns between 6 and 6:30 pm.

This year we celebrate 50-year anniversary of Spiritridge Elementary School. To mark this occasion PTSA is working on an installation to honor our community that the school has loyally served over the past five decades.
The first students to start at Spiritridge Elementary School were born in 1964. Three generations later the legacy continues, helping our community thrive. |
